I was wondering if she wasn’t just an "extra" hired off the street to mill around a set as a towns-person for the scene. People with no acting experience and or who are very shy will instinctively cover their faces – if only partially as she did.
I have noticed many times when a photographer with a TV camera goes to some third world country where the locals have never seen anyone from the outside world will also cover their faces and giggle, as an instinctive reaction. So

An old homeless lady used to push her shopping cart around our neighbourhood talking to herself. You could have sworn that someone was right next to her because she really looked like she was carrying on a conversation. I think this ‘time traveler’ is just fiddling with her ear, talking to herself (or her imaginary friend), stopped or had a break in the conversation while she’s still fiddling. At one point you can actually see there is nothing in her third and fourth fingers, they are just curled.
