need help getting from penn station to hofstra? - December 29, 2010 by Admin

my girlfriends coming to long island and shes coming from FIT in ny. i know shes going to be taking the Lirr but what else does she do to get to hofstra..PLEASE HELP thanks

From Penn Station, take the LIRR’s Heampstead Branch eastbound to Heampstead station, where a transfer can be made to the N70, N71 or N72 buses of the Long Island Bus system. Either bus will take you from the train station to the university.

The one way off peak fare from Penn Station to Hempstead on the LIRR will cost you $6.75 ($13.50 round trip) and the fare on the Long Island Bus from the Hempstead train station to Hofstra will cost you $2.25 each way ($4.50 round trip).

How does my lirr ticket work? - October 26, 2010 by Admin

If I bought an off-peak roundtrip LIRR ticket from Penn Station to Stony brook, then used it to get to Penn but was driven back to Stony. Can I still use the remaining ride to get to penn station or must I use it only from penn station to stony brook? Also must i take my trip from penn to stony brook or can i take it at let’s say… jamaica? Thanks!

Hey, you can use your ticket again to go to Penn Station if they haven’t clipped the other pass and you can get off Jamaica because you paid to go to Penn Station and Jamaica is before Penn Station. So you can get off Jamaica if you wanted too.
